This August, there’s one musical premiering that will surely pack the New York International Fringe Festival: The Legend of Julie Taymor, or The Musical That Killed Everybody! According to the show’s release, the new musical “tells the story of the rise and fall of director Julie Taymor and the behind-the-scenes scandals of Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark …. [The musical is taken] straight from the headlines and follows Julie’s course through the most expensive Broadway musical of all time; facing financial problems, actor injuries, technical malfunctions, opening delays, scathing reviews, all while battling her arch-nemesis, an unrelenting theatre columnist.” Sounds promising to us! Julie Taymor’s Failures Get The Musical Treatment!

SPOILER ALERT: The announcement of a MAJOR comic book superhero’s death is below! After many, many years of fighting crime, and keeping the streets safe, we regret to inform you that during the upcoming issue of Ultimate Comics Spider-Man , Peter Parker / Spidey will be killed by the Green Goblin . Fortunately for avid Spider-Man fans, the Ultimates series is separate from the bigger Marvel universe, so Spidey will live on in other series, including the Amazing Spider-Man books

Last we heard about Broadway news, we were pleased to report that the 2010-11 Broadway season broke two records , reaching a box office high of 1.08 billion and an attendance of 12.53 million! Hopefully the revamped Spider-Man musical can help keep those numbers up. That’s right, Spidey lovers! Cursed Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has been officially “frozen,” meaning there will be NO MORE CHANGES, and opening night for the looooooooong delayed show is June 14. Let’s hope the critics like the new version! As we said before, we’re skeptical , buuuut good reviews could definitely get people into seats, which could help keep those attendance/box office numbers strong, so hopefully it all works out! Good luck, Spider-Man team! Do U think the new version of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark will be a success

Excellent choice, American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League! He’ll attract eyeballs for sure! For the second time in his career, Neil Patrick Harris will host the Tony Awards, airing live this year from the Beacon Theatre in New York City. With the official announcement came this statement from Neil, saying: “I’m honored and stoked to have been asked to host the 2011 Tony Awards. It should be a great show – we’ve got a fantastic mix of live performances, a few secret surprises and since they’re closed for retooling, we’re using all the rigging equipment from Spider-Man
