No surprises here! Her rendition of Francis Cabrel’s Je L’aime A Mourir was beautiful!!! On Saturday, before her performance at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes (above), Shakira was honored with the French culture medal by France’s minister of culture Frederic Mitterand . Here’s what she had to say about it: “I am so humbled to receive this honor in a country like France that has shared an important cultural legacy with the rest of the world.” Congratulations, gurl! And keep up the French singing ! LOVES IT!!!!!!!

This is sure to hurt the international sales of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo . India’s local Censor Board has deemed the film “unsuitable for public viewing” and therefore, has canceled the release of the film. Director David Fincher refused to make any edits to his R-rated film and with full-frontal female nudity, a lesbian kiss, and of course, a graphic rape and torture scene, India is basically saying GTFO.

Check out Shakira ’s both absolutely FIERCE and BEAUTIFUL performances of her hits, Antes de la seis and Loca , during last night’s 2011 Latin Grammy Awards, at which she won for “Best Feminine Pop Vocal Album,” as well as honored for her philanthropic contributions to global education reform (above)! She said during her acceptance speech: “One of my favorite passages in the bible is Corinthians 3: 13. Without love nothing is good for me and without love I am nothing. To my loved ones… my family and my brother Tony thank you for your friendship.” Congratulations, gurl! You should be very proud of all of your accomplishments! And keep on shaking it!

A well deserved honor! Earlier this month, The Latin Grammy nominees were announced , and we were pleased to hear that Shakira was nominated for album of the year! Now, she’s getting even MORE Latin Grammy love, and she’s being named the 2011 Latin Recording Academy person of the year! Here’s what Shakira had to say about the honor: “It is truly an honor to be in the company of some of the greatest artists and legends of Latin Music.” And here’s what Latin Recording Academy President/CEO Gabriel Abaroa Jr. had to say about it: “We are honored to pay homage to this dynamic, socially conscious woman whose illustrious career has touched so many people around the world, both musically and personally.” Congratulations, Shakira! The latest gossip to come out of Idol territory is that Jennifer Lopez isn’t interested in returning to the show for a second season and that producers are looking for someone equally as hot and talented to replace her.
